If you spend your holidays in the well-known holiday paradise of Patong in Thailand, you should definitely book at least one evening for a visit to the Wassa Homemade Bar. The Wassa Homemade Bar is scenically situated over the bay where the city of Patong spreads. From the terrace, you have an ideal wide view over the entire city. Looking west from the beautiful viewing deck, you can see the sunset from the Wassa Homemade Bar. However, the Wassa Homemade Bar is not a public vantage point! Only guests of the bar can enjoy the view.
It goes without saying that the frequency of guests is especially high in the early evening. That is why we recommend that you definitely book a table at the Wassa Homemade Bar to make sure that you can really enjoy the sunset with a cool drink or a delicious early dinner. Even after the sunset, the view of Patong is spectacular. The lights go on everywhere and you can see clearly the coastline between the illuminated city and the darkening nocturnal sea.
Patong and surroundings
The Wassa Homemade Bar is, however, not the only attraction in the city. Patong on the beautiful island of Phuket is one of Thailand’s most popular destinations for tourists from all over the world. Visitors like to call Patong the little sister of Pattaya. And this comparison is fitting, as Patong has countless nightclubs, discos, bars and cafés, mainly located on Bangla Road, and this makes Phuket’s nightlife unique. But even those who do not want to rush into the exciting nightlife, can enjoy a wonderful holiday in Patong.
Patong Beach is a beach of superlatives. Many vacationers relax on the four-kilometer-long coastline, lined with numerous elegant hotel resorts. There are about 600 hotels in total in Patong and surrounding areas, so that there is something for every budget and every preference. Sunbathing and water sports are very popular. On the beach, kayaks can be rented and you can do parasailing.
Culinary Phuket, wellness and fun
The restaurants in Bangla Road, but also along the coast and in the different neighborhoods of Patong, offer excellent Thai dishes and of course international delicacies as well. Countless small shops offer souvenirs, clothing and accessories. Mixed in between, there are spa services and salons in which the famous Thai massage is offered. Here, tourists can let themselves be ‘kneaded’ and relax all the muscles in the body. It is amazing the strength with which the slender little Thai women perform this high art of massage.
At nightfall, the streets really come to life. This is when small stands shoot up everywhere. These offer delicious sweet pancakes but also Thai noodles and for those eager to experiment, even grilled grasshoppers. Of course, fresh seafood is on the menu in Patong’s restaurants and bars, as well as at street food stands in the evening. Lovers of shrimp and fish get their money’s worth on Phuket, where the sea is only a stone’s throw away. The night markets also offer souvenirs, spices and cheap clothing.
But note: you always have to bargain “a little bit” with the sellers!
